Junkyard Groove is an alternative acoustic pop-rock band founded by singer-songwriter Ameeth Thomas based in Chennai, India in 2005. They are best known for their unique musical style laced with catchy hooks and a live wire performance to match. They write music from a very honest and personal perspective, crafting engaging stories and developed melodies while bringing the excitement of their music to life on stage with their guitar-centric sound.
They have found inspiration from artists like Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, John Butler trio, Pentagram, Jack Johnson, Eddie Vedder, Jay Z, Rage Against The Machine, Vanessa Carlton, Goo Goo Dolls, Sara Bareilles, John Lee Hooker, Ray Charles, Pharrell Williams, B.B King, and Indian folk music.
Junkyard Groove has been featured in numerous publications like the Times of India, The Hindu, The Deccan Chronicle, and The Rolling Sones India. Career highlights include opening for Incubus, Megadeth, Machine Head, Prodigy, Machine Head, Mr. Big, Mastodon, In Flames, Stone Sour, Iron Maiden, Prime Circle, Robert Plant, and have played at multiple music festivals in the country. Junkyard Groove has 2 albums and 4 EP's and 2 singles to their credit, the latest EP release being "Head Above Water" which was released November 15th, 2020. They are currently working on new music which is to be released soon.
